We start 2023 by spotlighting the extraordinary global triber Doc Jones... long-time member, Advisory Board member and Arts Committee Leader for Global Chamber® Phoenix. Doc is not just creating and playing great music, he's having an amazing, positive impact on people - jazz listeners, young people, musicians, legislators, business leaders and more.

Doc keeps pushing through and making a difference - like jazz concerts all during April for the International Jazz month that he started. For years he has convinced the regional legislature to declare April as International Jazz month. He is seemingly tireless and UNSTOPPABLE!

Doc is a great example here because jazz itself is a metaphor for global business. Have skills, practice hard, hang out with talented folks... the global tribe... go with the flow, and make great music 🎶 AND global 🌎 business! It works for jazz and it works for success with trade and investment.

Is Jazz easy? Is global business easy? The answer is YES and YES - when you start with the skills, and collaborate effectively with others. It takes a village, dear friends. I know because I've seen it from both sides... as a lone wolf and now with our collaborative Global Chamber®.

Perhaps 'easy' isn't the best word to use here. Perhaps it's 'doable', 'possible'? Is it easy to run the Mayo Clinic, one of the best hospitals and medical systems in the world? It's doable... they're doing it... with a vision, and skilled people, and processes.

This is an important point because probably too many people explain how HARD things are to do globally. We disagree with that. It's doable. Business is doable. Global business has some additional complexities including cross-cultural issues, country-specific regulations, etc... and it's all manageable with the right mindset, people and approach. So in that sense it's 'easy', and certainly indisputably... important, valuable and FUN... in reference to the title of this post.

My first international trip for Dupont was exactly 36 years ago to Seoul, Busan and Daegu, South Korea. I was a lone wolf then by necessity because no one else wanted the job of supporting and growing clients in the fluoropolymers and elastomers unit of Dupont in Asia - seriously! It all was too much work for the older employees, I was told. As a 27 year old chemical engineer, they finally let me have the biz dev job and I ran with it, though I was forced to learn a lot on my own.

I think back on those days as we support members now because we ALL need help along the way with experts of all kinds to grow exporting, foreign investment and trade. A key connection here or there is always welcome. Asking for help is a strength, not a weakness.

Global Chamber® has been here for 8 years AND we've been growing our database for 36 years. PLUS we connect with leaders better, smarter and more connected than me in every city of the world, and so members gain access to millions of decision-making executives to help get to the next level. We've gotten really good at warm connections, too, particular in 2022... and so we look forward to helping members even more in 2023 - with more connections and simpler processes. We access the largest companies on the planet, and other large, medium and any company, anywhere.

In addition one of the amazing qualities we see every day in the global tribe is their capability, positivity and willingness to help each member grow. We share that passion, and we love every member as a family member... to support their success.
