Global Market Meetup Focused on Agriculture, Livestock and Poultry

We featured a global market meetup for agriculture, livestock and poultry with mainly speakers from Asia and Africa, but also worldwide.

By Yvonne Luker · Global Chamber

This global meetup organized by Global Chamber® Dhaka brought together global leaders involved in the agriculture, poultry and livestock industries as well as organizations that support the growth of agri-business.

Special thanks to Executive Director Maimun Mustafa, pictured below, and other leaders at Global Chamber® including Executive Director Selam Ayalew of GC Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, pictured at left.

Watch the discussion HERE.

This first event in this series was based around agriculture, livestock and poultry and the second was for businesses involved with seafood, fisheries and aquaculture. Read more about the 2nd program HERE,

In this meetup companies from all over the globe attended with the featured companies - A.H. Global Trade, Joikko, Bangladesh, Limra USA, Farmers Market Asia, iPAGE, Pro Agro Bangladesh and Green Grain.

Collaborators with the event included Movementum Consultancy and Facilitation Group (MCFG) and ICE Business Times.

Agriculture plays an essential role in most countries, providing primary food, money, and jobs. Diverse agro-climatic conditions, supply chain-storage, capability to adapt S&T for agricultural production, and access to global markets are all opportunities for development in this sector.

In comparison... 10% of the U.S. workforce is in agriculture, and 18% of U.S. exports are ag products.

For Japan only 3% of the workforce is in agriculture, and only 1.7% of exports are ag products.

For Africa it is estimated that 2/3rds (67%) of the workforce is in ag, and 30% of exports are agricultural.

Prospects include strengthening enterprising farming communities, well-developed research and extensions, improved internal and external cooperations, scope for expanding cropping intensity with the help of customized plans centered on agriculture, and more.

This meetup was designed for companies involved in any stage of the agro industry, as well as, complimentary industries such as agro-tech, agri-finance, agro insurance, and stakeholder training to support ecosystems and global trade pertinent to this sector.

The format featured 6 companies for 3 minutes each. Then others were given a 1 minute “speed pitch”, and the remaining time was allocated for open networking. Thank you to all those attending, and watch for the next program... seafood up next, and more.
