Important Treaties Every Person Doing International Business Needs to Know

Speaking with Board Chair Dr. Sarita Jackson, Jeff presented an overview of the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG), also known as the Vienna Convention.

There are a number of treaties that the U.S. and many other countries are members that directly affect international business.
The treaty focused on at this globinar was the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods often referred to as the CISG or Vienna Convention. It is the law of the countries that have ratified the treaty. More than two-thirds of the world’s countries are signatories to the CISG. The CISG applies to most international sales of goods.
