We spoke with a panel of experts led by Teclo Garcia, Economic Development Director, City of Laredo on the regional progress to grow, including attracting FDI.

Teclo Garcia is a proven and experienced economic development & public affairs professional.

Teclo has more than 25 years of experience and demonstrated success in government affairs, business development, media relations, marketing, research, social media management and leadership. In addition he's not all work and no play. He loves to tell stories and is a prolific sports writer, getting published more than 150 times in 2018-19 in local papers, magazines and websites. Hiking also makes him happy, and he's a book aficionado.

Still, the bottom line is important, and Teclo has been successful at every stage and stop of his career from leading troops in the USAF, to leading journalists on election night, or passing a bill at the state capitol. Some of his roles...

Dr. Rodney H. Rodriguez - Senior Director RGV Focus, Board Member, GCSA - As the senior director for RGV FOCUS, Dr. Rodney H. Rodriguez leads the Cradle-To-Career Educational Pathway and educational access for students in the region. Dr. Rodriguez partners with educational, philanthropic, business sector, economic development, state government, community-based organizations, and nonprofit partners through collective impact framework.

Prior to joining CFT, Dr. Rodriguez worked for over 20 years in early childhood education, workforce and economic development, and postsecondary education. During his tenure with Laredo College, he established the IMPACT Economic Development Forum, which provided scholarships for students, and he was as a member of the City of Laredo's economic development advisory committee.

Dr. Rodriguez holds bachelor's and master's degrees from Texas A&M International University in Laredo and a Ph.D. in leadership studies from Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) in San Antonio. During his doctoral program, he was an Alpha Chi Honor Society Top 10 Percent from OLLU. He published his dissertation "The Relationship Between the Followers' Perception of the Leaders' Leadership Style and Job Satisfaction in South Texas Community Colleges."
