Global Chamber is pleased to announce a business event in June (approximately June 2nd) after the Solar Impulse 2 plane flies across the Pacific, overflies California and lands in Arizona.
The landing at Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix will feature a global business event in collaboration between Global Chamber and Solar Impulse 2 through Alisa Jost, Chairperson the Arizona Consular Corps and Honorary Swiss Consul in Arizona.
You can follow the flight of the Solar Impulse across the Pacific on Twitter at @solarimpulse. There is more than an week of day and night flying to cross the ocean.
Solar Impulse 2 will be the first airplane to fly day and night on solar power, without a drop of fuel, around the world!
The chances of succeeding at the first attempt to build a solar airplane capable of flying around the world were judged to be slim, so a more rudimentary prototype, HB-SIA, was first constructed. Lessons learned from this prototype are incorporated in Solar Impulse 2, the Round-The-World Solar Airplane.
The public-private partnership between the Swiss government and investors/investors including Solvay is a model for success. We'll be talking about the model when the plane lands in the US. Watch for more information about the event HERE.
