This month several of us attended a meeting at Squire Patton Boggs with two key congressional leaders on trade. One was U.S. House Ways & Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady of Texas.
There was good news for those hoping for progress with trade.
Chairman Brady was very positive about a renegotiated NAFTA passing in 2018. He considered that to be a highest priority.
He also was quite positive about TPP, and two weeks later, the White House announced an interest to reinvestigate the progress that had been made by President Obama and his trade team.
Finally Chairman Brady was positive about a trade deal being done this year between the U.S. and South Korea.
